Jodhpur, is the second largest city in the state of Rajasthan, India. Located 335 kilometers (208 miles) west of state capital, Jaipur. It was once the royal capital, known as Marwar. Jodhpur is a popular tourist destination, because there are many castles, fortresses and temples.
The city is known as "Sun City" because the weather was always sunny throughout the year. The city is also referred to as the "Blue City" because the blue-painted houses around the Mehrangarh Fort. Jodhpur lies near the geographic center of Rajasthan state, which makes it a comfortable place to travel in areas frequented by tourists. The old city of Jodhpur is surrounded by thick stone walls.
The area was part of Gurjara, royal Pratihara to 1100 AD and ruled by a king Bargujar. Jodhpur was founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, a Rajput chief of the Rathore clan. Jodha succeeded in conquering the surrounding territory and thus founded a state which came to be known as Marwar. Jodha Mandore comes from the city, the city was originally served as the capital of this country, however, Jodhpur soon took over that role, even during the Jodha. The city is situated on a strategic road linking Delhi to Gujarat. This makes it possible to profit from the trade that flourished in the field of copper, silk, sandals, dates and coffee.
Tourists often travel through the Thar desert is unforgiving in the state of Rajasthan, they will know when they have reached their destination. The sky will fall to the ground and everything will become one blue. Jodhpur is located in front of them, opening up like a blue treasure in the desert.
Why do the residents paint their homes to be blue? many people who do not know why why. But most believe that it is related to the caste system prevailing in India.
